FOR MANY

Voice 1:
a cat leaps out
Voice 2:
of a big drum
Voice 1:
hyper real
Voice 2:
and empty
Voice 1:
horse hair
Voice 2:
supplemented by polystyrene
Voice 1:
trailed as much detritus

[brief silence]

cats leap out of drums
Voice 2:
stop frame!
Voices 1:
stealing an image of an instant captured
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
pitched high wails while the sack neck closes
Voice 1:
splash of hi hat

and it is tilting
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
towards
Voice 4:
audiences
Voice 1:
growl
Voice 2:
lowing
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
invisible engines
Voice 1:
torrent of blood

down near the centre

of an earthed animal

reeking of soil
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
dusts too dusty
Voice 2:
drowned by silence

[long silence]

Voice 2:
he turns off his motorbike

marveling at tranquility

still astride

then revs animus back

to that which is dominant
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
making a howl like a horde of saxophones
Voice 2:
to tell his wife

of a field between fields

where all one could hear

was external wind

[brief silence]

Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
and we are all fast turning
Voice 1:
a drill through inner substance
Voice 2:
from external views
Voice 1:
drilling for seed
Voice 2:
drilling for purchase
Voice 1:
drilling for exploitation
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
turning spinning
Voices 1:
direct and
Voice 2:
indirect driving
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
driving down
Voice 2:
with and without differentials
Voice 1:
all of us
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
drilling together

still
Voice 1:
out of the grave
Voice 2:
out of the grave
Voice 3:
out of the grave
Voice 4:
endlessly rocking

[brief silence]

resurrection of what is better

dead

[brief silence]

Voice 2:
perhaps
Voice 1:
one more time?
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
get it right
Voice 1:
we get it right
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
we get it

[brief silence]

Voice 1:
and then another time
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
we hear again
Voice 1:
what we heard
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
anew
Voice 1:
a heaven we say
Voice 2:
an earth we mean
Voice 1:
all ploughing in
Voice 2:
all ploughing in
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
everyone who cares

and we all do care
Voices 1:
plough in!
Voices 1, 2, 3 & 4:
the long forgotten
Voices 1 & 2:
turning up
