poem || Vernon Frazer

Phantom Urge

a pillar of serpentine vapor
splinters the slender legato aftertaste

the paid soufflé
vouches pilgrim hedging vendors
a shadow renovation

still crescent filters relent
mirrored nights shed their water
flatly telling the worn hints

to thrive as the fruit of suggestion

                        *

willing template mergers escape
the telling breath caped urgently
past its tenderly rendered waste

vegetable circulars
infinite tolls a veritable tinnitus

dissenters wear
caper tills a staid reply
measured against
the aching plague of curtain

paper denying the question its will
